New Zealand will donate more than 1.6 million Covid-19 doses through an international vaccine sharing programme, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has revealed.
This is enough to vaccinate 800,000 people – many of whom will be health workers and vulnerable people in the Pacific.
She made the announcement at the Gavi Covax event this morning (NZ time), where she was the first world leader to make a pledge.
HARIDWAR: Amidst the ongoing Kumbh in Haridwar, 30 sadhus in the city have tested positive for Covid-19, said the Chief Medical Officer on Friday.
Speaking to ANI, Haridwar Chief Medical Officer Dr SK Jha said, 30 Sadhus have tested positive for Covid-19 so far, in Haridwar. Medical teams are going to akhadas and RT-PCR tests of sadhus are being done continuously. The process will be further quickened from April 17.
The CMO told that among the Covid positive people who are from Haridwar have been sent for home quarantine while those who came from outside are being admitted to hospitals.
Dr Jha also informed that the Covid patients who are in serious condition are being referred to AIIMS Rishikesh. However, he also clarified that there is no panic-like situation in Hospitals in Haridwar.

JICA team to train Wasa staff

LAHORE: A delegation of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is scheduled to come here in May 2021, to train the staff of Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa).
This was disclosed by Wasa Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz here Thursday after holding an online meeting with JICA, Japan. He said discussions were held on providing better training facilities at Wasa Lahore’s training centre.
He said that benefits from JICA s experience would also be included in staff training, which will enhance their performance. He deputed DMD FA&R Muhammad Tanveer as the focal person of this upcoming important training.
